Danny Kelly

Irish Folk Musician

About

Danny Kelly is an Irish Folk musician who hails from County Donegal, Ireland. He has been living and performing in Glasgow, Scotland since 2009 and developed a solid fan base there in that time. He currently plays a weekly residency at one of Glasgows most popular Irish pubs – Malones Glasgow – as well as biweekly residencies at Tavern Bar and Waxy O'Connors. Danny also plays numerous other gigs each week either as a solo musician or with his band Tir Chonaill. In the past he has also performed in Ireland, Canada, France and Spain and has hopes of taking his performance to more locations in the coming years. He has supported Glasgow’s most loved Celtic FC Bands “Charlie and the Bhoys” and played alongside many other great musicians (including Conor Elliot of "Seven Drunken Nights - The Story of the Dubliners" fame).

Danny is a versatile musician who grew up listening to classic rock and metal as well as traditional Irish folk music. He states that his strongest influences are The Dubliners, Rory Gallagher, and Thin Lizzy. He has been playing guitar and singing since his childhood days and has performed in various bands over the years. He appears to have found his niche in traditional Irish folk music though. It is rare that the audience doesn’t become involved – either singing along or dancing their shoes off. It's easy to understand why his audience returns gig after gig.

Danny is currently working on his first album. It will combine traditional songs, local favourites and a few originals. Tir Chonaill are also recording an album due to be released for the holiday season.
